The ATC Exchange Was a Blast!

The IA guild held their launch party and their first ATC exchange Saturday night. The artwork was fabulous, and everyone had a great time. Some people were disappointed they didn't do more cards, so they could exchange with everyone who participated. There was even interest in having more swaps then the ones scheduled.

Here is an example of the ones I received and who created them:

Verona Mitchell
Brandon Chrisjohn,
Jack Peeler
Michael Barnecott
Jill Wyant
Serena Mitchell
Amanda Dalmas,
Andrea Chrisjohn

We asked everyone to do as many cards as they could and gave 10 as a good amount. 10 was clearly not enough. I came prepared and did way more then I needed to, and I am so glad I did. I was able to trade with almost everyone who came! Now I need to figure out how I want to display them; all together, in groups, individually, in a binder.... I just can't decide.

I had a great time and can't wait until the next one.

The gathering was also to let people know about the guild and what it is all about. We now have brochures available, and if you want one, please send you name and address to
with "brochure request" in the subject heading.

Our next scheduled event is gallery show. We will be using the theme "Emotion Through Shape". My gears are already moving! We hope to have a inspiration session to discuss the theme. Check the blog or website periodically for updates.

The ATC (artist trading card) exchange

examples of ATC's from one of our artist
Jessica Wyant-Pendleton
Christmas theme exchange 2009

The members of the IA Guild are excited to be participating in an ATC exchange on an ongoing basis. Our next exchange is in January. ATCs or artist trading cards are becoming more and more popular. The concept is for artist to come together and trade cards with other artists and discuss their ideas and techniques with the other artist they are trading with. The only rules for ATCs are to create a piece of art on a sturdy paper which is 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches, and they are for trade only, and can not be sold. On the back the artist puts their name, contact details, title, number if it's a limited edition, and the date it was created. Cards which are created for sale are called ACEO (short for Art Cards, Editions and Originals).

The ATC concept falls directly in line with our main goal, to inspire each other by sharing ideas and techniques. Our exchange has all our artist and our artist friends creating 10 pieces of original art and in exchange will get 10 cards from the other artists participating.

We will certainly post some of the ATC's our guild members come up within the future. Perhaps you would like to join our guild and participate in one of the exchanges? If so contact the Brandon @ or Jessica @
